Well, Ernie keeps saying that there's nothing we can do about it, so we should just get over it! As many of you have already heard, I haven't gotten over it yet -- hence this posting!
We knew rent was going to be high when we moved here; however, we figured we were living near the beach and perhaps that added to the rent significantly. Little did we know that everything else was as high as the rent! After doing some research (a bit late I might add), I came across the website attached to this posting (http://www.xpatulator.com/outside.cfm?lid=299). I thought some of you might be interested in reading it further...but I'll give you the bottom line:
New York is ranked 21 among the 300 cities worldwide in high cost of living for expats. Rio is ranked 7!!! If you thought the cost of living in NY was high, just pause for a moment and imagine the many spots between 21 and 7 that are even cheaper than Rio!
We still hope you come for a visit despite the cost:-)
